THE INNER LANDSCAPE

This work begins with my hands.

I create the original image physically, allowing colour, material, movement and accident to find their own place. I do not begin with a fixed destination. I follow what appears.

The original artwork is then photographed or scanned and transformed into a high-resolution digital file. The digital process allows the work to move beyond its original physical form while preserving its origin, composition and character.

For me, the landscape in this image is not a landscape of a particular place.

It is an inner landscape.

Blue becomes depth.
Green becomes life.
Yellow becomes light.
Black becomes memory, roots and the unknown.

The forms seem to grow, dissolve and return again, just as everything in life is constantly becoming something else.

There is no clear beginning and no final point.

That is central to my work.

I do not try to illustrate life.
I allow life to leave its traces.

The physical original and its digital transformation are therefore not two separate works. They are two states of the same work — matter becoming image, and image becoming matter again when it is printed.

The hand creates the origin.
The digital process changes its form.
Life remains inside it.
