【Description】

The Lord Marvel 36000 is a hand-wound watch introduced in 1967, the first Japanese wristwatch to run at 36,000 vibrations per hour. Lord Marvel was the line that sat at the top of Seiko's range before Grand Seiko appeared, and the 36000 represents its final generation.

The Cal. 5740C inside is based on the earlier 5740B with the balance frequency raised to hi-beat specification. Beating ten times per second, the seconds hand advances in fine increments and its travel appears smooth. This is the starting point of the hand-wound hi-beat lineage that continued into the 45 King Seiko and 45 Grand Seiko.

The dial is silver, with bar indices and three hands in a no-date configuration. Without a date window the dial surface is left open, and the time reads directly. At a case width of 35mm it is a restrained size that sits comfortably under a shirt cuff.

The crystal is plastic. Compared with glass it is less prone to shattering, and fine scratches can be dealt with by polishing, which makes it a forgiving material for anyone who wants to wear a vintage mechanical watch regularly.

The strap is a new non-original black leather strap. As a hand-wound watch, it is one you wind each day as part of wearing it.

【Condition】

There is plating loss around the lugs. It is visible in the photographs provided. The bezel has multiple scuffs and scratches. The case back has several visible small scratches. The crystal also has several small scratches.

The dial, hands and indices show only slight traces visible at close distance.

Operation has been confirmed. The crown winds without issue, and the seconds hand is running.

There are no accessories. Only the watch itself will be shipped.
