Einzigartige Dreiergruppe von drei japanischen tanzenden Geishas – ca. 1950

Eine striking vintage set of three Japanese dancing figures, believed to depict performers of the traditional Bon Odori or Awa Odori dance. Crafted from heavy cast iron, these figures are very heavy and solid and have a gorgeous dark gold-speckled gilt patina finish; they would make a great mid-century modern accent in any space!

The set was acquired several years ago from a private collector in London, who had inherited the figures as part of his family’s belongings, adding an interesting element to their provenance.

Each figure has its own distinctive posture and personality. Their elongated silhouettes, dramatically shaped hats and sweeping arms capture a wonderful sense of movement and rhythm, as though the dancers have been frozen in the middle of a performance.

When displayed together, the three figures create a particularly dynamic composition, while each remains an appealing sculptural object in its own right. Under natural or directional light, their surfaces alternate between deep bronze-brown shadows and warm golden highlights, giving them considerable visual depth.

Often associated with the Asian-fusion aesthetic designer such as James Mont (1904–1978), an American furniture and interior designer prominent from the 1930s through the Mid-Century period, this set would make an unusual decorative feature in a Mid-Century Modern, eclectic, bohemian or contemporary interior.

Ideal for display on a console table, bookshelf or mantelpiece, this characterful trio offers wonderful sculptural presence and an evocative aged-metal finish—equally appealing as a collectible vintage set or as distinctive interior decoration.
