Wir leben in mehreren Zeitebenen zugleich. Neue Technologien stehen neben archaischen Normen; wir tragen Märchen aus der Vergangenheit in eine Welt, die wir kaum wiedererkennen. Unsere Leben unterscheiden sich drastisch von denen unserer nächsten Vorfahren. Urwälder, Zeuginnen und Zeugen des Vorüberziehens unzähliger Generationen, flüstern nun dem Stahl und der Elektronik von Drohnen zu; Epochen vermischen sich.

Die Zukunft ist bereits da, aber auch die Vergangenheit — und wir stehen an der Weggabelung, sowohl Autorinnen und Autoren als auch Figuren einer sich entfaltenden Geschichte, "Once Upon Now". Um vorwärts zu kommen, müssen wir uns daran erinnern, was wir hinter uns lassen. Die Frage ist, ob wir es tun werden.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Inna Etuvgi is a Swedish-Chukchi artist whose work defines the concept of Cybernetic Animism—a bridge between indigenous Arctic intuition and technical precision. Raised in a remote village in Chukotka and trained in technical cybernetics, Etuvgi explores the shared "soul" of natural ecosystems and digital algorithms.

Living with Aphantasia—the inability to visualize mental images—Etuvgi uses her camera and Generative AI as a "visual prosthesis" to externalize deep emotional landscapes. Her macro photography magnifies nature’s smallest details, urging a shift from a human-centered worldview to one of interconnectedness.

Internationally recognized as an Arte Laguna Prize finalist (Venice) and a recipient of the Swedish Arts Grants Committee grant, Etuvgi’s work is held in private collections worldwide. As art critic Tabish Khan notes: “Her work transports us to other worlds—both real and imaginary, but always in harmony with nature.”
