Introduced in 1963, the Seikomatic Weekdater was one of Seiko’s more sophisticated automatic watches of the early 1960s. Its distinctive layout separates the date at 3 o’clock from a fully written weekday display at 6 o’clock. Japanese-language weekday versions such as this one were produced for the domestic market and are less commonly encountered internationally.

This example is powered by the 26-jewel Seiko 6206A automatic calibre. The movement belongs to the historically important 62-series and features Seiko’s automatic winding system, Diashock protection and calendar functions. Its elegant silver sunburst dial and applied faceted markers typify Seiko’s refined mid-century design.

The watch is in very good vintage condition and presents attractively for its age. The silver sunburst dial is clean and well preserved, retaining its original finish, crisp printing and applied faceted hour markers. Only minor age-related marks and light patina are visible. The framed date aperture and full Japanese weekday display are clear and fully functional.

The stainless steel case retains its elegant proportions and long, angular lugs. Light surface scratches and small signs of wear are present, consistent with the watch’s age. The case back shows more noticeable scratches and wear, while the original dolphin emblem and engraved details remain visible. A new, scratch-free crystal and a new black leather strap have been fitted.

The automatic movement has been serviced and functions correctly, including the date and weekday displays. The watch is supplied with a 3-month functional guarantee.
