A 5-piece collection of traditional prestige body ornaments from the Naga people of Northeast India (Nagaland). Hand-carved from dense marine conch shell (Turbinella pyrum / Conus), this cohesive lot includes a warrior's wrist cuff and two matching pairs of traditional slit-ring ear ornaments.
Naga society, ornaments were never purely decorative; they served as a visual language indicating the wearer’s status, clan lineage, and accomplishments in warfare. Shells were highly prized trade items brought into the landlocked Himalayan foothills from the distant Indian Ocean. The distinct geometric linear dot patterns were hand-incised using traditional iron tools and rubbed with a mixture of charcoal soot and natural resin to accentuate the motifs
