Römische norisch-pannonische Doppelknopffibel – Almgren 236 – wohl Garbsch A236a – Bronze – frühe Kaiserzeit

Sehr gut erhaltene römische norisch-pannonische Doppelknopffibel aus Bronze, typologisch der Gruppe Almgren 236 zuzuordnen. Aufgrund ihrer charakteristischen Merkmale steht die Fibel wahrscheinlich der frühen Variante Garbsch A236a nahe.

Charakteristisch sind der kräftige, zum Kopf hin verbreiterte Bügel, die beiden deutlich profilierten Querknöpfe sowie der langgestreckte, rahmenförmig durchbrochene Fuß mit mehreren Zwischenstreben. Der Kopfbereich ist glatt ausgebildet und besitzt keinen ausgeprägten Mittelgrat.

Besonders hervorzuheben ist der weitgehend vollständige Erhaltungszustand. Die Spiralkonstruktion sowie die lange originale Nadel sind erhalten.

Eine der feinen Zwischenstreben im durchbrochenen Rahmenfuß ist etwa mittig gebrochen und im unteren Bereich abgebogen. Die Strebe selbst ist jedoch vorhanden. Der Zustand ist auf den Detailaufnahmen gut erkennbar.

Die Oberfläche zeigt eine natürlich gewachsene grüne bis dunkelgrüne Patina mit stellenweise braunen bzw. rötlichen Korrosionsbereichen und altersbedingten Ablagerungen.

Sehr guter Gesamtzustand mit erhaltener Spiralkonstruktion und langer Nadel. Eine feine Zwischenstrebe des durchbrochenen Rahmenfußes ist mittig gebrochen und im unteren Bereich verbogen, jedoch vollständig vorhanden. Altersbedingte Patina, Korrosion und Gebrauchsspuren entsprechend den Fotos.

Die Fibel wurde von mir 2003 aus einer Münchner Privatsammlung erworben und befindet sich seitdem nachweislich in meinem Besitz.

Roman Noric-Pannonian Double-Knob Fibula – Almgren 236 – probably Garbsch A236a – Bronze – Early Imperial Period

Very well preserved Roman Noric-Pannonian double-knob fibula made of bronze, belonging to the Almgren 236 group. Based on its characteristic features, the fibula is most probably closely related to the early Garbsch A236a variant.

Characteristic features include the robust bow widening towards the head, the two distinctly profiled transverse knobs and the elongated openwork frame-shaped foot with several internal struts. The head is smoothly formed without a pronounced central ridge.

Particularly noteworthy is the largely complete state of preservation. The spring mechanism and the long original pin are preserved.

One of the fine internal struts of the openwork foot is broken approximately in the middle and bent in its lower section. The strut itself is still present. This can clearly be seen in the detailed photographs.

The surface shows a naturally developed green to dark-green patina with areas of brown and reddish corrosion and age-related deposits.

Condition:
Very good overall condition with the spring mechanism and long pin preserved. One of the fine internal struts of the openwork frame-shaped foot is broken in the middle and bent in its lower section, but the strut remains present. Age-related patina, corrosion and traces of wear as shown in the photographs. No modern restoration has been carried out by the present owner.
