Omega WW2-Era “Military Style” – Cal. 26.5 – Circa 1940
Dating to approximately 1940, this early Omega comes from one of the most historically fascinating periods in Swiss watchmaking. Watches of this generation were produced as Europe entered the Second World War, when wristwatches were evolving from elegant interwar pieces into increasingly practical everyday instruments. Omega’s 26.5 family is well documented in the period, with several versions appearing through the late 1930s and early 1940s.
The Omega Calibre 26.5 was an important compact hand-wound movement used across numerous Omega references of the era. Period documentation and surviving watches show variants of the 26.5 family around 1940, including the 26.5 SOB T2 and T3 generations. Without seeing the movement markings and inner caseback, the exact 26.5 variant and reference should not be assumed.
This example has a particularly appealing military-style character, with a clean silvered dial, a combination of Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9, elongated gold-tone hour markers and matching period-style hands. The compact stainless-steel case and aged brown leather strap complete the understated pre-/WW2-era appearance.
Important Photo & Color Note: High-resolution images may exaggerate minor imperfections not visible to the naked eye. Photographs were taken using professional camera equipment and controlled lighting; therefore, the dial, case, and strap may appear slightly darker, brighter, or different in tone depending on ambient lighting, direct sunlight, viewing angle, and screen settings.
