198–1 launched in 1991 to mark the 110th anniversary of Ettore Bugatti's birth, the EB110 was the car that resurrected the Bugatti name after decades of dormancy, under Romano Artioli's ownership. It was staggeringly advanced for its era: a quad-turbocharged 3.5-litre V12, a carbon-fibre monocoque (one of the first road cars to use one), and all-wheel drive — technology that wouldn't become common in hypercars for another decade. It briefly held the title of world's fastest production car and counted Michael Schumacher among its owners. Production ended in 1995 when the company collapsed, making surviving cars — and well-made scale replicas of them — genuinely sought after.
