Vom Verkäufer bereitgestellte Beschreibung
The Barolo DOCG Riserva 10 Years Bricco Voghera 2009 by Azienda Agricola Azelia di Luigi Scavino.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Intense garnet red with warm hues developed from extensive bottle aging.
Nose: Expressive, deep, and autumnal bouquet. Notes of sour cherry, plum, and blackberry emerge, accented by floral touches of dried rose and violet, enriched by hints of sweet tobacco, dark chocolate, tar, balsamic herbs, and fine spices.
Palate: Powerful, warm, generous, and enveloping on the palate. The tannins—derived both from exceptional raw material and over a decade of maturation—are silky and round. It shows a beautifully integrated freshness and a long, mineral, infinitely persistent finish.
Critical Scores (2009 Vintage)
Produced only in great vintages from centenarian vines and released onto the market only after 10 years of aging (5 years in large casks and 5 years in the bottle), the Bricco Voghera Riserva 2009 earned notable acclaim:
Decanter: 95 / 100
CellarTracker: ~94.3 / 100 (average enthusiast score)
Winery History (Azelia di Luigi Scavino)
Origins and Foundation: Azienda Agricola Azelia was founded in 1920 in Castiglione Falletto, located in the heart of the Barolo region, by Cavalier Lorenzo Scavino.
Family Management: The winery is run by Luigi Scavino (fourth generation), alongside his son Lorenzo (fifth generation). Family continuity has made it possible to preserve historic traditions while refining techniques in both the vineyard and the cellar.
Production Philosophy: Azelia combines meticulous vineyard care (sustainable/organic practices and intentionally low yields) with respect for individual crus during vinification. Each vineyard is farmed and harvested separately to best express its unique terroir.
The "Bricco Voghera" Vineyard: This cru is located in the commune of Serralunga d'Alba. Characterized by steep slopes and old vines (many of which exceed 95–100 years of age), it yields a very low quantity of grapes boasting extraordinary concentration and elegance, reserved exclusively for special vintages of the Riserva Bricco Voghera.
