Vintage Amsterdam School Pendant Lamp – Geometric Art Deco, Netherlands, 1920s
A striking vintage pendant lamp attributed to the Amsterdam School movement, dating from the 1920s. This distinctive hexagonal lantern features beautifully decorated glass panels in vivid red, amber, ochre yellow, cream and dark brown, creating a spectacular warm glow when illuminated.
The tapered, faceted silhouette is framed by dark patinated metal, with decorative detailing along the lower edge. The bold geometric patterns, contrasting colours and expressive composition make this lamp a true eye-catcher and a remarkable statement piece for collectors of Dutch decorative arts and early twentieth-century lighting.
The Amsterdam School was an influential Dutch architectural and decorative arts movement that flourished during the early twentieth century. Its characteristic combination of expressive geometry, rich materials and artisanal craftsmanship created a distinctive Dutch interpretation of the international Art Deco movement. This pendant lamp beautifully reflects that decorative aesthetic.
The glass panels are intact, with visible age-related wear and craquelure to the painted decoration. This authentic patina enhances the vintage character of the lamp. The striking colours, sculptural form and distinctive suspension make it an exceptional decorative addition to an Art Deco, eclectic or design-focused interior.
