Stokke – Peter Opsvik – “Minimax” High Chair – Norway – Early 1970s – Rare Predecessor of the Tripp Trapp Design & History Offered here is a rare “Minimax” high chair, designed by Peter Opsvik and produced by Stokke Fabrikker, Norway, in the early 1970s. The Minimax is the precursor to the legendary Tripp Trapp chair (introduced in 1972), which went on to become one of the most iconic pieces of Scandinavian furniture design. Unlike the Tripp Trapp, the Minimax remained in limited production and is now very seldom encountered, even in Norway. This chair is an important piece of Scandinavian design history, representing Opsvik’s early exploration into ergonomic, adjustable seating for children. Materials & Techniques • Solid Norwegian beech wood (original finish, never restored) • Adjustable seat and footrest for growing children • Original Stokke hardware system with removable seat plate • Structural details include precision carpentry joints and durable construction, designed for daily use Dimensions • Height: 82 cm • Width: 47 cm • Depth: 40 cm • Adjustable seat height Condition Structurally solid and complete. Original, unrestored condition with authentic age-related wear consistent with 50+ years of use. Surface marks and patina have been preserved intentionally, as part of the chair’s character and history. Provenance This chair is an original Stokke Minimax designed by Peter Opsvik in the early 1970s, produced by Stokke Fabrikker in Norway. The Minimax is considered the direct predecessor to Opsvik’s world-famous Tripp Trapp chair, which was launched in 1972 and became an international bestseller. What makes this example especially rare is its completeness and documentation: • Retains the factory-supplied assembly tool and the original instruction leaflet, very seldom seen with surviving examples. • The chair was sourced in Ålesund, Norway, near the original Stokke production site. • Its authenticity is further supported by the inclusion of a contemporary 1975 furniture catalogue, in which the Minimax is pictured alongside the early Tripp Trapp. A scan of this catalogue page will be included as the final photo in the listing, serving as strong documentation of its design heritage. Shipping & Handling • The chair will be carefully disassembled for safe transport. • Supplied with the original Allen key and instructions for straightforward reassembly. • Secure packaging for international shipping. stokke, stokke minimax, peter opsvik, scandinavian design, norwegian design, mid century high chair, vintage high chair, tripp trapp predecessor, rare stokke chair, collectible furniture,1970s design, beech wood chair, children’s chair, ergonomic chair, adjustable chair, scandinavian modern, stol, barnestol, stokke stol, stokke minimax stol, justerbar stol, design stol, norsk design, oppsvik stol, klassisk barnestol, skandinavisk møbel, chaise haute, chaise stokke, chaise minimax, chaise bébé,chaise ergonomique, chaise enfant vintage, chaise réglable, design scandinave, meuble norvégien, chaise peter opsvik, kinderstoel, stokke kinderstoel, minimax kinderstoel, verstelbare kinderstoel, vintage kinderstoel, scandinavisch design, noors design, stoel peter opsvik, stolica, stokke stolica, minimax stolica,dečija stolica, skandinavski dizajn, norveški dizajn,стул,детский стул,стул stokke,стул minimax,регулируемый стул,скандинавский дизайн,норвежская мебель,stuhl, hochstuhl, stokke stuhl, minimax stuhl, verstellbarer stuhl, kinderstuhl, skandinavisches design, norwegisches design, peter opsvik stuhl, vintage stuhl, sgabello, sgabello stokke, sedia stokke, sedia minimax, sedia per bambini, sgabello ergonomico, design scandinavo, mobili norvegesi, sedia peter opsvik, silla stokke, silla minimax, silla infantil, silla escandinava, muebles noruegos, silla ajustable, silla vintage, silla peter opsvik
