Byōbu-Faltschirm - Ein sechspaneliger Byōbu (屏風), der den Mount Fuji, von Nebel umhüllt, darstellt. - Signed - Japan - Meiji-Zeit (spätes 19. Jahrhundert)
A Japanese byōbu (屏風) six-panel paper screen depicting Mount Fuji shrouded in mist. The snow-covered peak emerges softly from the clouds, while dark pine trees appear on the right, gradually fading into delicate ink washes.
Executed with refined tonal sensitivity, the painting reflects the sumi-e tradition, in which the modulation of black and grey creates a profound meditative atmosphere. The work stands out for its balance between emptiness and form, evoking the serenity and spirituality of the Japanese landscape.
Signed and sealed by the artist in the lower right corner.
The reverse is covered with paper featuring a delicate cloud motif.
The panels are framed by two elegant silk borders, while a lacquered wooden frame completes and protects the screen.
The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider.
Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings.
---The byobu is in very good condition, with minor wear consistent with age. Two of the metal studs on the lacquered wooden frame appear to have been replaced. Please refer to the pictures for further details.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped via DHL or FedEx, accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy.
