High quality Japanese traditional hand carved wooden Noh mask - Usobukiうそぶき, finely carved with meticulous details. Made in 2011 by Saitō Masami齋藤正美 Artist name was signed on the backside. The air blowing mask is used for animal spirits such as the rat in "Daikoku Furyu" and the octopus in "Tako". The shape of the mouth blowing is said to be the mouth blowing to utter a prayer or to mirror the shape of a mouth blowing fire, but this shape is thought to be a reference to the old tradition of masks, and similar shapes can be seen in gigaku masks and bugaku masks.
