Schrank - Eiche

Beautifully detailed Utrecht Arched Cabinet. High-quality Dutch Renaissance. A flat frieze with blackened panels under a powerful cornice. In addition to these panels of artistically carved heads, a woman in the center with male heads on the left and right. This ornament of the arches is borrowed from the triumphal arches of classical architecture. Long blond vertical panels in beautiful quartersawn oak. The sawing method makes a special drawing visible in the grain. The doors are flanked by extra heavy pilasters. Under a powerful base with a wide drawer. The entire design is a reflection of classical architecture. This cupboard was made in the middle of the 17th century when the Netherlands was the richest country in the world. It is interesting how the Netherlands grew into the richest country in the world between 1588 and 1672. Freed from the Roman Catholic Phillips II, the country became a Republic and Protestant. In the surrounding countries, most of the money went to the king and church. Not in the Netherlands, where traders earned the most money and the State received a more modest share. The Church much less so. The Middle Class was rich and large in number and determined the country. A less pyramidal power structure. Power was constantly divided and kept small so that it could not proliferate. This is still relevant today. A lot of money flowed to artists and craftsmen. A cabinet like this is the result of that. The locks and the key are original. A fine detail: the keyhole is hidden behind part of the pilaster. See the photo. Transportation: In the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, France and Spain, we transport the furniture in packing blankets and store it indoors. The rest land on a wooden pallet in sturdy cardboard and splash-proof foil and delivered to the front door. We charge a higher rate for islands, delivery is to the door, please help because the driver is alone, the driver is not allowed inside or up the stairs. The carrier will contact you to deliver. He has your telephone number and email address. >>> These transports usually do not have a track and trace system. I am entering an empty code for Catawiki's computer system. You cannot track the transport. Take photos of the packaging upon receipt to rule out damage during transport. Usually it is not possible to ship within three days, you can ignore Catawiki's reminders. It is usually between three and seven days in transit. You approve and sign for good reception with the driver. You must report any damage immediately in this form. This is necessary for insurance. Damage that occurs afterwards is your own responsibility. An 'empty' form means good reception. The carrier will call you to make an appointment for delivery. You are free to arrange the transport yourself, please indicate this when paying to Catawiki.
