This vase is an Arita ware vase made by Fukagawa Pottery, a purveyor to the Imperial Household Agency. The author is Hidemine 秀峰. The Imperial Household Agency has many vases, but this is a slightly older type. The floral pattern has an old design. Arita ware is the general term for ceramics produced in Arita Town, Saga Prefecture. As it was the first place in Japan to produce porcelain, it is considered the origin of Japan's porcelain industry. Arita ware is known for its intricate painting and rich colors that reflect Japan's traditional aesthetic sense.
