Ancient Chinese, Han Dynasty Pottery Duck with Bronze Legs Circa 2nd-1st century BC This lovely pottery duck is modelled with a rounded body, arched back, and an elongated head curving upwards into a pointed beak. The surface is painted with black around the neck, red on the beak, and faded green spots on the wings. The figure is mounted on separately cast bronze legs with broad, webbed feet. This pottery bird serves as a distinctive example of mingqi, a diverse array of objects, including representations of everyday life, animals, and other items placed in tombs to accompany the deceased in the afterlife.
