Ardbeg Spectacular – A Taste Phenomenon from Islay Introducing Ardbeg Spectacular, a limited edition whisky released to mark Ardbeg Day 2024, which is a true sensation in the world of peated single malts. For the first time in its history, the Ardbeg distillery decided to use port wine casks, which, combined with classic bourbon casks, gave rise to a spirit with an unprecedented flavour profile. The whisky was bottled on 15 November 2023 and has an ABV of 46%. It was not chill-filtered, which allowed it to retain its full natural character. Tasting notes Ardbeg Spectacular is a true spectacle of aromas and flavours that is sure to surprise even the most demanding connoisseurs: • Aroma: It opens with an intriguing scent of perfumed lavender, vetiver and incense, which after a while gives way to deeper notes of leather, wax and almond nuttiness . In the background, you can also sense damp peat, wood smoke, tar and mint chocolate . • Taste: On the palate, the whisky is silky and oily, with a distinct salty accent. It explodes with a wealth of flavours, in which peat smoke and eucalyptus oil mingle with the sweetness of toffee, pear crumble and salted caramel fudge. There are also notes of smoked pecans and creosote. • Finish: Long and memorable, with dominant notes of salted caramel and refreshing menthol, which are the perfect finishing touch to this extraordinary drink.
