A very fine antique master 4/4 violin, labeled Carlo Antonio Testore figlio maggiore del fu Carlo Giuseppe in Contrada larga al fegno dell'Aquila Milano 1730. The instrument is in ready to play condition with some old professionally repaired cracks on top, grafted scroll, good rosewood set up, old Dominant strings. The violin has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and one piece back of softly flamed maple with matched sides and scroll. Very rich golden brown color varnish over golden ground. The whole length of the violin is 588 mm and the back 352 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 168 mm; middle bouts: 114 mm; lower bouts: 205 mm. The sound is very good, powerful, sweet, rich, suitable for soloist.
