A fine group of five original jazz LPs featuring two of the greatest names in swing – Duke Ellington and Count Basie. The collection includes first Canadian pressings of early RCA Victor, Decca, and Brunswick albums, alongside a UK Columbia Clef Series EP and a 1960s reissue of the famous Tony Bennett / Basie collaboration. All records are vintage pressings with authentic 1950s label designs and period mastering. Included titles: Duke Ellington and His Orchestra – In a Mellotone RCA Victor – LPM 1364 – Canada – 1956 Original Canadian pressing on black RCA Victor “Long Play” label with “Non-Breakable” text and dog-on-top logo. Features “Take the ‘A’ Train,” “Main Stem,” “Perdido,” and “Rocks in My Bed.” First Canadian pressing (1956). Condition: Sleeve: VG+ / Vinyl: VG+ Count Basie and His Orchestra – Count Basie Decca – DL 8049 – Canada – Early 1950s Black “Long Play Microgroove” Decca label, made by Compo Co. Ltd., Canada. Includes “One O’Clock Jump,” “Evil Blues,” “Texas Shuffle,” and “Panassie Stomp.” First Canadian pressing (contemporary with US first, c. 1952).
