Taiko-Trommel - Traditional Japanese shime-daiko 締太鼓 decorated with autumn grass maki-e 秋草蒔絵. - Japanese Drum - Anzahl der Objekte: 1 - Japan

A traditional Japanese shime-daiko drum. It is decorated with autumn grass maki-e. A drumstick is included. The sound it makes when struck is truly exquisite. The stand is self-assembly type. Although it shows some signs of use, the color, lacquerwork, and strings are all in generally good condition for a used drum. The shime daiko is a drum mainly used in Noh and Kabuki. It is said to have been introduced to Japan during the Asuka period as an instrument used in gigaku. It began to be used in Kabuki and other performances during the Edo period. The distinctive feature of the shime-daiko is its sharp, high-pitched tone, produced by tightening the skin with bolts or strings. The pitch can be adjusted by how tightly the skin is tightened; the tighter the tightening, the higher the pitch. Furthermore, the sound quality varies depending on the thickness of the skin, making it suitable for a variety of performances. Key Features High Tone: It produces a shrill, piercing sound that is higher-pitched than the nagado-daiko. Pitch Adjustment: The pitch and tension of the sound can be freely adjusted by changing the way the fasteners (strings or bolts) are tightened. Various Types: They are classified into five types, including "naritsuki," "nichokake," and "sanchokake," depending on the tightening method and skin thickness, resulting in a wide variety of sounds. Various Uses: They are used in a wide range of Japanese musical instrument performances, including Noh, festival music, and group drumming.
