At the beginning of the 19th century, one of the most interesting chapters in Portuguese wine began with the launch of a wine that would become an icon, a coveted object, but which was always, by choice, kept out of the spotlight.
Its creator, Alexandre de Almeida, adopted the concept of combining luxury hotels with a winery and its own wine, thus creating the rare and historic Buçaco wines, produced in the beautiful Palácio do Bussaco, in the mountains north of Coimbra.
These wines, untouched by modernisms, boast enormous aging potential, capable of keeping in the bottle for decades.
