Baccarat - MOLIÈRE - 1916-20 - Champagnerglas (12) - Kristall - 8 Coupes/4 Sherry-Gläser

On offer are 8 antique, crystal champagne coupes and 4 sherry/liqueur crystal glasses (plus 2 more sherry/ liqueur glasses, which have small chips) — which are superbly handcrafted by the world-renowned BACCARAT (France). The pieces are from the ‘MOLIÈRE’ collection, first introduced in the 1916 Baccarat catalogue, and are unsigned/unmarked as they predate the 1930s, after which the Baccarat maker’s mark was acid-etched on its glassworks. This set dates from between 1916 to 1925. The quality of the crystal is immediately evident, by holding the glasses up to the light and observing their exceptional clarity, brilliance, and sparkle. The glasses have a classical design, which feature intricate cuts of oval spheres and a frieze of multiple vertical lines in a precise and elegant pattern that speaks to the mastery of Baccarat’s art glass designers. The pieces are crafted from the very finest crystal and when gently tapped, they resonate with a clear, long, high-pitched tone. Plus, the cut crystal motif creates magnificent, luminous effects that play when the crystal catches the light. Indeed, the pieces have the exceptional finesse and luminosity of Baccarat crystal artistry, Note the flawless symmetry of the cuts, the absence of air bubbles (unless intentionally part of the design), and the precision of every detail. Measurements: The champagne glasses measure 11.5 cm high and have a top diameter of 8.5 cm. The sherry/liqueur glasses are 11.25 cm high, with a top diameter of 5.5 cm. Condition: The crystal glasses are in very good condition with a few micro surface scratches on the undersides, and some other minor signs of age and wear. Transport: The glasses will be very carefully wrapped and boxed and shipped with a track and trace code. BACCARAT CRYSTAL has, since its beginning, affixed its signature on strong art glass works illustrating all the facets of excellent craftsmanship and a vast repertoire of inspiration. In 1764, King Louis XV gave Bishop Montmorency-Laval of Metz permission to found a glassworks company in the village of Baccarat, located in Lorraine, in eastern France. The designs and creations of great artists, inspired by the magic of crystal, agave been magnificent contributions to building Baccarat’s immense collection and for people around the world to enjoy the great tradition of elegant living. Envisioned by Philippe Starck, the Baccarat House in Paris is now home to the internationally-acclaimed brand’s headquarters. Baccarat crystal is collected and cherished worldwide.
