Pre-Columbian. Remojadas Hervorragende Keramik-Stehpriesterin Mit spanischer Importlizenz und alter Rechnung.

Female figure represented standing in solemn position with the body erect, arms slightly separated from the body and hands open in offering or praying position. She appears richly dressed with ceremonial headdress of "canutillos", large disc earrings, braided vegetal necklace with large central bead and tunic adorned with horizontal bands and tied with a belt or rope with frontal knot; in the arms she also carries ceremonial bracelets. It is made of orange-brown terracotta, brown paint and traces of bitumen. For the type of clothing and posture it could be a tribal priestess. With custom woodden stand. Remojadas is the name used to designate a culture, an archaeological site and an artistic style developed in the Mexican state of Veracruz, in the Gulf of Mexico, within the Culture of Central Veracruz. It is especially known for its pottery and hollow figurines, thousands of which have been found in various locations, including burial mounds and dumps. These figurines show gods, rulers and peasants, as well as animals of all kinds. Particularly noteworthy are the so-called smiling ones, childlike representations of a joyful appearance.
