Medieval Islamic Turquoise-Glazed Pottery Oil Lamp Circa 10th-13th century AD This attractive turquoise-glazed pottery oil lamp has a compact, rounded body set on a short foot and a broad shoulder rising to a cylindrical neck with a wide circular filling hole. The shoulder extends into a long, tapering nozzle with a neatly formed wick hole, while a rounded horizontal lug opposite provides a simple handle or thumb-rest. The upper body, neck, handle and nozzle are coated in a vivid turquoise glaze.
