Here is a representative set of two scapolite crystals (2.6 x 0.7 x 0.6 cm and 2.0 x 1.0 x 0.8 cm in size) from Soamatasy, a now abandoned prospect.
Ex coll. Rollet family (Lyon).
The Rollet family owned several mines in Madagascar since 1920, prospecting for new deposits, mining and exporting minerals for industrial uses (mainly phlogopite) but also gemstone roughs and collectable specimens. Founder Marc Rollet was a very early mineral dealer in France. The collection features many specimens of historical and systematic interest from Madagascar, as well as a variety of French and international classics from the last century."
