Marta Romashina - Maggio
Shot in May 2020 during the first lockdown, Maggio is a self-portrait born out of stillness, fragility, and introspection. The title—Italian for “May”—echoes both the month of its creation and a moment suspended in global and personal uncertainty. Tiny lilacs emerge from a bandage, transforming a wound into a site of quiet rebirth.
Blending surrealism with softness, Maggio explores the emotional texture of solitude, the poetry of healing, and the tenderness of marking time. The image is both delicate and defiant—a visual diary entry from a chapter where growth felt both impossible and necessary.
