Matthieu van Riel - Vlieland Wadden Island

The painting (without stretcherframe) will be carefully packaged, rolled-up and shipped in a sturdy cardboard tube. I like walking in nature, along flower- and tulipfields, along the North Sea coast and the Atlantic Ocean, in polders, heathlands and forests in the Netherlands, The Alps, The Pyrenees and rugged mountainous regions in Scandinavia. Nature is in my mind. That is why many of my paintings are about nature, about landscape. Website: More information, see my website: Matthieu van Riel. Education: 1983 to 1987 Painting, Drawing and Monumental Design. Graduated Cum Laude. Art Academy St. Joost Breda, Netherlands. 1977 to 1980 Graphic Design, St. Joost Art Academy Breda, Netherlands. Since 1988 I have been working full-time as a professional visual artist in my own studio. Exhibitions - selection: Museums: Stedelijk Museum Breda Netherlands (2018 and 2019), Jan Cunen Museum Oss Netherlands. Galleries - selection: Lisa Norris Gallery London GB, Galerienegenpuntnegen Roeselaere Belgium, Galerie 14 -16 Posthuys Texel Netherlands NL, CBK Groningen NL, CBK Dordrecht NL, Galerie Segeren Breda NL, Galerie De Rog Grave NL, Cultuurcentrum Mechelen Belgium, Giulio Cesare & Co Gallery Den Bosch NL, Molenaars Breda NL, BMB Amsterdam NL. Artfair: Art Zaanstad Zaandam NL. Collections: My paintings can be found in many public and private collections in the Netherlands, Great Britain, Italy, France, China, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Switzerland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Sweden, Hungary, Denmark, Poland, Greece, Ireland, Canada and USA. Commissioned work: Chassé Theater Breda Netherlands. Stipends, grants and awards received from the Dutch government: 1991, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 NBKS Foundation, Noordbrabants Foundation and the The Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture (1998). My work has been nominated for the St. Joostpenning (award) Academy St. Joost Breda NL (1987) and for the 'Prize for Painting Boechout 2004' Boechout Belgium (2004). Publications. Mentioned with image of my work in the following publications: 2017 Catalogue 'Spring 2017' Saatchi Art Santa Monica USA. 2019 Catalogue 'Rocket Start' Stedelijk Museum Breda NL. 2021 Catalogue 'Spring 2021' Saatchi Art Santa Monica USA. 2021 Book 'The painters of the Dune and Bulb Region', authors Werner van den Belt and Bob Hardus. You will receive a certificate signed by me. Unfortunately, in some images you can see the moiré effect, the wavy lines on the image. The moiré effect is caused by photographing the cotton I paint on, its structure. If you zoom in, the effect is usually gone. Information about the moiré effect can be found on the internet.
