Alessi - Aldo Rossi - Kaffeeservice (2) - "Ardt set" - Glas, Stahl (Edelstahl)
The ARDT coffee cups by Aldo Rossi for Alessi are a perfect example of how architecture and design can seamlessly converge. Rossi, internationally celebrated as an architect and winner of the prestigious Pritzker Prize, carried his distinct formal language into product design. His work is characterized by clean lines, geometric shapes, and an almost architectural clarity – all of which are beautifully reflected in this coffee set.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Aldo Rossi collaborated with Alessi on several projects, translating his architectural vision into everyday objects. Where his buildings often embodied monumental simplicity and striking volumes, these coffee cups offer the same sense of timelessness and structure on a smaller scale. Every detail is carefully considered, balancing aesthetic presence with functional design.
The partnership between Rossi and Alessi is iconic: Alessi provided a platform for architects and artists to bring their ideas into the realm of design objects accessible to a wider audience. The ARDT set not only bears Rossi’s unmistakable signature but also reflects Alessi’s philosophy of elevating household objects into cultural statements.
These coffee cups are therefore far more than tableware; they represent a piece of design history, allowing one to experience the legacy of one of the greatest architects of the 20th century with every sip.

His design style was one of abstraction and reduction, his language of primary shapes and geometric patterns evoking silence, created one of the most intense, poetic works found in the area of architecture and design of his time.
