Paläolithisch Feuerstein, Jaspis Scraper - 11 cm (Ohne mindestpreis)

Prehistoric Heavy-Duty Side Scraper on Iron-Rich Jasper (CoreTool) Condition: Excellent archaeological condition, clear negative scars, intact working edge. A robust prehistoric scraper made on a heavy jasper/chert core. This tool shows a well-defined unifacial working edge, created by a sequence of strong, invasive removals. The opposite side retains a natural cortex surface, forming a comfortable gripping zone. The orange–brown coloration comes from iron-rich silicification, a material often selected in regions lacking high-quality flint. Despite not being flint, it offers excellent hardness and durability — ideal for heavy scraping tasks. Visible features include: • Clear negative flake scars on the active edge • Step-terminated retouch typical for heavy-duty scraping • A distinct striking platform with percussion impact traces • Natural cortical back used as a hand grip • Strong, pointed distal end suitable for pressure scraping This type of tool is commonly associated with Middle Paleolithic or early Upper Paleolithic utilitarian toolkits, used for processing hides, wood, or bone. A solid and authentic prehistoric working tool with excellent preservation and strong archaeological character. Provenance: Found in the Netherlands (river terrace gravels). Stone objects of this prehistoric type have been collected and held in private collections in the Netherlands since before 1999. This specific item was acquired directly by the current owner in 2024–2025, the Netherlands, and has since formed part of a private collection. From the private collection of H.L., the Netherlands. Legally obtained from publicly accessible river gravel deposits with no protected archaeological context. No excavation was carried out. No permit or authorization from the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) is required for ownership or sale. International shipping follows standard regulations for archaeological stone artifacts, which do not involve restricted materials. The item will be carefully packed using protective materials and shipped with full tracking to ensure safe and secure delivery.
