Ancient Chinese, Han Dynasty Painted Terracotta Court Attendant Circa 2nd century BC - 2nd century AD This elegant painted terracotta figure represents a standing attendant wrapped in a long robe that narrows at the waist before spreading into the skirt forming the base. The upper garment features a cross-over collar edged in red pigment and long sleeves, one arm hanging straight while the other bends sharply upwards. The oval face is modelled with small painted eyes, brows and mouth, framed by a close-fitting coiffure parted at the crown.
