High quality Japanese traditional hand carved wooden Noh mask - Uba姥, finely carved with meticulous treatment detials, artist name 一女 was signed on the backside.
The elderly couple who appear in "Takasago" and "Kuzu" use a Jomen mask for the old man, and an Uba mask for the old woman. The eyes are downcast and the whole mask is hollowed out. Among the masks of elderly women, the Uba mask is used for divine roles, but it is also used for old women roles in "Sekidera Komachi" and "Obasute" and other works.
Dimensions: 21 x 14 x 7 cm
