It serves to check the sound quality, mastering and pressing quality. Only a few copies (often 3–10) are produced and sent to sound engineers, artists or label representatives. This is what makes them so unique: Extremely limited edition → genuine rarities. Unreleased or different mastering → sometimes with different mixes or cuts. Neutrally designed labels → usually white or black, with handwritten information. Collectible value → sought after by collectors, especially if it is confirmed or signed by the artist. Historical value → documents the last step before the official release. In short: a test press LP is the most authentic and rarest testimony to the creation of a record – a link between the studio and the final product. ★★★ Night After Night is a live double album by American rock musician Nils Lofgren, which was released in October 1977 via A&M Records. The album contains recordings of concerts at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, the Apollo Theatre in Glasgow and The Roxy in Los Angeles. It showcases Lofgren's dynamic stage presence and guitar skills and contains a mixture of his solo work and songs from his former band Grin. Although Night After Night was not a huge commercial success, it was praised for its energetic performances and Lofgren's exceptional guitar work.
