The damage must be reported to your local post office within 7 days of delivery, and promptly to us and Catawiki support. 【Product details】 A charming small rattan basket vase by Kosuge Shotikudo (1921–2003), an accomplished bamboo artist from Niigata Prefecture. The piece features a finely woven rattan body with a removable bamboo insert inside. The base is engraved with the artist’s name, Shotikudo. Kosuge Shotikudō was born on Sado Island in 1921 and studied bamboo craft under his father, Chikudō, from an early age. After World War II, he worked as an instructor at the Niigata Prefectural Bamboo Craft Institute, contributing greatly to the promotion of bamboo craftsmanship. He exhibited at major national art exhibitions such as the Nitten and received numerous awards, later becoming known for his refined aesthetic and innovative approach to traditional techniques. Signed and sealed by the artist on the original wooden tomobako storage box. There are minor signs of age including light wear and small blemishes, but overall it remains in good to very good used condition. Please refer to the photos for details. Dimensions: approx.
