Vase - Keramik - Japan - natürliche Ausdruckskraft (Ohne mindestpreis)

Description: This vase is a fine example of Echizen-yaki (越前焼) from Wakitani Kiln (脇谷窯), created by Echizen potter Nishiura Takeshi (西浦武). It carries the characteristic earthy strength and natural expressiveness that distinguish Echizen ware—one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns. The form is compact yet full of presence, with a slightly faceted body and a firm, flaring rim. The surface reveals the dynamic interaction of flame, ash, and clay that defines true Echizen firing. Areas of molten natural ash glaze cascade down the body in warm amber and olive tones, while other sections remain matte, textured, and rugged, giving the piece an organic, almost geological feeling. Subtle metallic flashes—hints of silver and blue—appear where ash fused intensely onto the clay, capturing the movement of the kiln atmosphere. The base shows the exposed Echizen clay, coarse and iron-rich, with natural ash deposits fused during firing. A small metal ring attached near the shoulder indicates that this piece was intended as a hanging flower vase (掛花入 / kake-hanaire), a traditional format used in tea rooms and alcove displays. True to Nishiura Takeshi’s style, the vase balances simplicity of form with the powerful, uncontrolled beauty of wood firing. It is both raw and refined, embodying the spirit of Echizen pottery—quietly expressive, deeply rooted in nature, and shaped by fire as much as by the potter’s hand. NOTICE
