Armee/Infanterie - Flagge - WW2 Japanese Rising Sun Flag

WW2 Japanese Rising Sun Flag Description: Selling here is a WWII Japanese Imperial Rising Sun flag made from cotton. Featuring the classic red sun with 16 rays on a white field. It measures in at 90 x 60cms. This is an unusual item as it is not the classic Yosegaki Hinomaru (Good luck flag) that is often seen. This is an imperial Japanese army flag given to soldiers for Ceremonial purposes and is often military issued. What makes this item interesting and rare is the kanji writing and the modifications that appears to be purposely done to mount on a rifle I have attached a picture to show what it could of looked like. The Kanji writen boldly says very Patriotic slogans: 必勝万歳 (Hisshō Banzai – “Certain Victory, Long Live Victory) And 七車八起 (Shichisha Hakki – “Fall Seven Times, Rise Eight”), This is a classic Japanese proverb symbolizing perseverance and resilience often dating back to the samurai days. The flag also displays a series of names. More than likely fellow comrades, suggesting strong communal support or possibly even a unit-based presentation. - Names and dedications: 中村茂 (Nakamura Shigeru), 八原結男 (Yahara Musuo), 岡田清男 (Okada Kiyoo), 山本三郎 (Yamamoto Saburō), 鈴木正次 (Suzuki Masatsugu), 鈴木正次郎 (Suzuki Masajirō), 高橋政男 (Takahashi Masao), among others... This flag I feel belonged to a warrior soldier, someone who was more than willing to die in combat for his men and country. Provenance: This particular artifact was acquired from a private military collection and is said to have been picked up by an American soldier during a battle on a Pacific island the exact location is not known however. Condition: - The cotton shows signs of age, wear, and what appears to be battlefield exposure. Is as seen on the pictures above please purchase with understanding. Please Note: While the flag exhibits characteristics consistent with wartime production and use, full authentication is not confirmed. It is offered as-is, with inscriptions and provenance presented to the best of my knowledge. This item offers a rare opportunity to own a piece that bridges military history, ideal for collectors, historians, or institutions seeking artifacts with emotional and research potential.
