In dit expressieve olieverfschilderij botst het zachte licht van een nieuwe dag met de intense blik van de vrouw in het zwart. Ze staat stil — resoluut, ongrijpbaar — en toch lijkt ze midden in beweging gevangen. Achter haar explodeert een abstract decor vol kleurvlagen en suggesties van een ruimte die verdwijnt in verf en gevoel.

De schilder laat in dit werk de grens tussen figuratie en abstractie vervagen. De vrouw is scherp, krachtig neergezet, maar de omgeving lost op in een ruwe waas van suggestie en ritme. Alles draait om haar houding: schuin, bijna uitdagend, met een blik die je vasthoudt.
