BIOGRAPHY: Yasse Tabuchi is a Japanese artist, a friend of Pierre Alechinsky, who was born as Yasukazu Tabuchi on May 20, 1921 in a perfecture of Fukuoka. He died on November 24, 2009 (aged 88) in Vauhallan, in the southern part of Paris. He studied art history at the University of Arts of Tokyo from 1946-1951. He was a watercolourist, copper engraver, lithographer and ceramist. Yasse Tabuchi paintings are similar in style of those of the group of painters named CoBrA, who pursued a lyrical form of abstraction after the war. He worked in France from 1951 until his death, but throughtout his whole career, his Japanase heritage and his studies remained of great influence on his work, which explains why we repeatedly encounter motives of flowers, leaves, prisms, and rainbows made of white spots, which he called "Monads". He normally used gold leaf or the diptych form. His work has been exhibited many times in solo and group exhibitions in Japan, France, Belgium and some of his pieces are part of the collections in museums, such as those at the National Museum of Modern Art Kyoto, Japan or in the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.
