Sommige wijnen vertellen een verhaal – een verhaal van klimaat, vakmanschap en karakter. Het wijnjaar 1973 is daar een goed voorbeeld van. Hoewel het niet wordt gerekend tot de allerbeste jaren in de wijngeschiedenis, is dit een uitstekende keuze voor de echte liefhebber. Helaas is ╬én etiket zichtbaar bevlekt door een bovenliggende portfles, wat het visueel minder perfect maakt, maar de waarde van de inhoud onaangetast laat.

Het wijnjaar 1973 kende een groeiseizoen met redelijk gunstige weersomstandigheden. Niet extreem, maar eerder evenwichtig, wat resulteerde in wijnen met finesse, complexiteit en een indrukwekkend bewaarpotentieel. In de decennia die volgden, konden deze wijnen zich rustig ontwikkelen tot ware schatten – als ze onder de juiste omstandigheden werden bewaard.
