Split Rocker ist ein Paradebeispiel für Koons' anhaltende Faszination für Dichotomien. Die monströse Skulptur, die aus den Hälften zweier Spielzeugrocker (einem Pony und einem Dinosaurier) besteht, spielt mit der Idee der "Spaltung" und der Irritation, die diese Hybridfigur auslöst. Mit einem Verweis auf kubistische und surrealistische Einflüsse bilden die beiden nicht kongruenten Hälften der Köpfe eine seltsame Zwischenform mit offenen Räumen (=Spalten), die wechselnde Perspektiven und eine dynamische Form bieten, die die Idee der Unregelmäßigkeit feiert. Signiert und nummeriert auf der Schachtel.

Split Rocker is a prime example of Koons’ ongoing fascination with dichotomies. The monstrous sculpture, composed of halves of two toy rockers (a pony and a dinosaur), plays with the idea of “splitting” and the sense of unease evoked by this hybrid figure. With references to Cubist and Surrealist influences, the two non-congruent halves of the heads form a strange intermediate shape with open spaces (i.e., splits), offering shifting perspectives and a dynamic form that celebrates the idea of irregularity. Signed and numbered on the box.
