Damas de la corte, con un peinado complejo, el cabello recogido y ricamente ataviadas, con una túnica de manga larga. Terracotas decoradas con enaguas aplicadas en frío. Las figuras destacan por su gran movimiento y su danza. Buen estado de conservación.
El auge de la Dama Gorda como imagen popular de la identidad china surgió por primera vez durante la dinastía Zhou, que interrumpió brevemente la dinastía Tang. Las mujeres eran idealizadas y heroizadas. Se dice que la dama de la corte más famosa, Yang Guifei, consorte del emperador Xuanzong (712-756), influyó significativamente en la moda femenina. La vestimenta y la moda se adaptaron a la figura más madura de Yang y, por primera vez, las túnicas largas y vaporosas con escotes altos se convirtieron en la moda cortesana, acompañadas de elaborados peinados. Un peinado particular se ve a menudo en las esculturas de las Damas Gordas, que se hicieron famosas por la siguiente historia: Un día, al regresar de una cacería, Yang se cayó de su caballo y su alto peinado se desprendió. Por un lado, el delicioso estado despeinado de su cabello la hacía lucir aún más hermosa. No en vano, las demás damas de palacio pronto copiaron su estilo, con su aspecto desaliñado. La influencia de Yang duraría generaciones.
