Dit is een prachtig koperen of messing meetinstrument dat bekend staat als een grafometer (ook wel een landmeterskompas genoemd).

Dit instrument werd voornamelijk in de 18e en 19e eeuw gebruikt door landmeters om horizontale hoeken te meten en terreinen in kaart te brengen.

Hoe het werkt
Het Kompas: In het midden zit een kompas waarmee de gebruiker het instrument op het magnetische noorden kan richten.

De Vizieren (Sights): De vier verticale opzetstukken aan de zijkanten zijn de vizieren. Door de gleuven in deze vizieren te kijken, kon de landmeter nauwkeurig mikken op een ver punt (zoals een paal of een baken).

De Gradenboog: De halfronde rand is voorzien van een schaalverdeling in graden. Hiermee kon men de hoek tussen twee verschillende punten exact aflezen.
