Rare edition of the Strand Magazine, Vol. II. July to December, 1891. This is special copy as it contains the six adventures of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “Sherlock Holmes” with Illustrations by Sidney Paget

Before ever being published in book form, Doyle’s legendary “Sherlock Holmes” series was first printed here in The Strand Magazine with illustrations by Sidney Paget. Published by George Newnes, London, 1891. Publisher’s original half leather spine with dark brown boards. The spine in five compartments with raised bands, gilt lettering pieces to compartment two and four. Top page edges gilt.

Condition: 
A well-preserved copy. External covers in nice shape, slightly worn at corners, and edges. Internally; the book is in very good condition. No names or inscriptions. Inner hinges are very good, and pages are tightly held at gutters. Pages are clean, with occasional foxing marks on some pages. The illustrations are clean and bright (Lovely Copy) (Please see pictures).
