Frammento di costola di Sauropode con segni di morso

 Kem Kem Beds, Marocco (Cretaceo superiore, Cenomaniano)

Descrizione.
Frammento di costola appartenente a un grande sauropode, con superficie ossea compatta e ben conservata. Sono presenti chiari segni di morso disposti su più linee: il passo variabile delle impronte dentarie indica con alta probabilità l’intervento di almeno due predatori/scavengers differenti sulla stessa carcassa. Tracce trofiche di questo tipo sono rare perché la catena di eventi necessaria alla loro conservazione è poco frequente (interazione biologica + seppellimento rapido), rendendo il pezzo di notevole interesse tafonomico.

Provenienza e datazione.
Giacimenti continentali dei Kem Kem Beds (Tafilalt, Marocco). Intervallo crono-stratigrafico: Cenomaniano del Cretaceo superiore, ca. 100–94 milioni di anni fa. La serie è suddivisa nelle formazioni Gara Sbaa (inferiore) e Douira (superiore). 

Conservazione.
Osso in connessione frammentaria (elemento singolo) con tessitura corticale leggibile; patina naturale. I solchi di morso mostrano margini netti e deformazioni locali compatibili con compressione dentaria in vivo o peri-mortem.

Significato scientifico.
Il reperto documenta interazioni predatore–prede/scavenging su grandi sauropodi dei sistemi fluviali nordafricani del Cenomaniano (faune note per Spinosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus ecc.). Evidenze di comportamento alimentare direttamente impresse sull’osso sono poco comuni nei Kem Kem e aggiungono contesto ecologico a una fauna altrimenti dominata da resti isolati. 

Preparazione.
Reperto di collezione privata, provenienza dichiarata Kem Kem Beds (Marocco). Preparazione meccanica leggera; nessun consolidamento invasivo noto (se applicabile, indicare).

Pezzo didattico e da studio, ideale per chi colleziona tracce di comportamento (bite marks) oltre ai classici resti osteologici.
