History of Seña:
Seña was born in 1995 from a joint venture between Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi, with the dream of producing a wine that would showcase Chile's full potential, a wine that would, over time, be recognized among the world's Premier Crus. Modeled after the Bordeaux style, it would have a Chilean soul given by its Carmenere grape variety, cultivated according to biodynamic principles in the Aconcagua Valley.

Wine History:
Warm, sunny days marked the 2017 season. However, thanks to its privileged coastal location in the Aconcagua Valley—just 40 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean—the cool breezes that blow there moderated temperatures. This combination of factors allowed Seña to reach perfect ripeness with a unique balance between concentration and power, as well as tension, elegance, and freshness.
From the beginning of the season until July 30, the soils of our Seña vineyard were fully replenished with generous water reserves, with rainfall totaling 282 millimeters, all concentrated in winter, well above the historical average for the same period of 180 millimeters.
The following months brought a dry spring, with temperatures well above our records in August and September, allowing for an early budburst that occurred 15 days ahead of historical dates. Flowering also occurred early in November. Continuing this trend throughout the summer, perfectly uniform veraison began 15 days earlier than historical dates, given the higher heat recorded from October to January.
This, along with low yields, is the basis of an early vintage, which was 20 days earlier than historical dates to preserve the characteristic freshness and elegance of Seña.
