Ces pépites proviennent de la région désertique de Tiris Zemmour au Nord de la Mauritanie, à plus d’une centaine de kilomètres d'une zone nommée Guelb Ndour
L'exploitation aurifère dans ce pays n’était réservée qu’à une grosse société industrielle.
Mais depuis 2016 l'exploitation individuelle elle est autorisée au moyen de détecteurs de métaux.

Je les propose telles que je les ai découvertes, je les ai seulement nettoyées à l'eau savonneuse.

L’or de cette région est assez pur, en général sa pureté est l’ordre de 970 à 980 millièmes, ce qui correspond à 23,00 à 23,50 carats

Malgré que l’exploitation de l’or soit devenue une des premières ressources de la Mauritanie, les pépites sont assez rares car la presque totalité de l’or est fondu en lingots qui sont ensuite envoyés à Dubaï
