Antico ritratto caricaturale ispirato al dibattito evoluzionista e alla pittura satirica del XIX secolo … un’opera rara ed inedita

Opera satirica o surreale: rappresenta un gorilla con abiti umani eleganti (abito nero, cravatta rossa, anello e sigaro), nello stile tipico dei ritratti ottocenteschi inglesi. 

Pittura antropomorfa: (un gorilla in abiti borghesi) fanno parte di questa tradizione satirica. Mettere un animale in abiti da gentiluomo diventava un modo ironico per riflettere sulla vicinanza evolutiva tra uomo e scimmia.

Si tratta di un’antica pittura antropomorfa, realizzata come caricatura o opera umoristica, giocando sull’associazione tra l’austerità dei ritratti ufficiali e il volto animale.
