The Master Control line, introduced in 1992, was the first Jaeger-LeCoultre collection to undergo the legendary "1000 Hours Control" test—a six-week test of precision, resistance, and durability that surpassed the standard COSC tests. As a result, every piece bearing the Master Control inscription is considered a symbol of the brand's reliability and rigorous quality. Models from the 1990s, such as the Ref. 140.8.89, are particularly prized among collectors today for their classic dress watch proportions and the authenticity of early series.
