Atollo is al jaren geen lamp meer, of beter gezegd, niet langer zomaar een lamp. Het is een mythe geworden, een icoon: een van de bekendste symbolen van Italiaans design wereldwijd, een van de weinige producten die mensen herkennen en bij hun eigen naam noemen. Ontworpen door Vico Magistretti in 1977, werd het in 1979 bekroond met de Compasso d'Oro en maakt het sindsdien deel uit van de permanente collecties van 's werelds belangrijkste designmuseum, evenals van het meubilair in vele huizen van mensen die houden van en in staat zijn om de dingen om zich heen te selecteren. Atollo's geheim schuilt waarschijnlijk in de geometrische constructie van zijn vormen: de kegel op de cilinder en de halve bol boven alles. Een lichtgevende sculptuur waaraan niets kan worden verwijderd, waaraan niets kan worden toegevoegd. En die niets kan worden gekopieerd. Inclusief lampen: 2 x max. 40W (E14) + 1 x max. 25W (E14).
