Expressieve Afrikaanse voorstelling van de Heilige Familie, volledig met de hand gesneden uit donker hout. Maria en Jozef zijn in sobere, ingetogen vormen weergegeven rond het kind Jezus, dat gewikkeld is in doeken. De compacte compositie en de gestileerde gezichten geven het werk een spirituele intensiteit die typisch is voor Afrikaanse religieuze kunst uit die periode, waarin christelijke thema’s een lokale artistieke vertaling kregen.

Het snijwerk is ongeveer 20 cm hoog en verkeert in goede, authentieke staat met lichte gebruiks- en ouderdomssporen, waaronder enkele natuurlijke barstjes in het hout en sporen van vroegere politoer.
